CY Columbia Downtown at USC and Their BIG Charity Giveaway!
The Courtyard Columbia Downtown at USC in South Caroline recently had not one, but two, charity drives!
The first charity event was coordinated by Grace Hinds with the City of Columbia Fire Department. It was brought to the team's attention that there had been over 11 fires reported in the month of April alone where the families had lost everything. The Courtyard Team Members collected over 5,000 articles including: men's clothing, women's clothing, children's clothing, books, VCRs and videos, soccer balls, blankets, towels, and sheets. These items were given to the families in their times of need. Pictured above (l. to r.) are: Katie Moquin, Care Committee Member; Assistant Chief Dunn; Assistant Chief Tinsley; Deputy Chief Jenkins; Amanda Dennison, Human Resources Manager; Grace Hinds, Executive Housekeeper & CARE Committee President; Chief Anderson; Marshall Gamill, CARE Committee Member, and Mike Wells, General Manager. |
The CARE Committee also reached out to the Cayce Police Department in South Carolina. When Officer Findley Wihlidal mentioned to the CARE Committee that there was a concern for the elderly in the upcoming hot summer months, the CARE Committee collected donations from the Team Members to purchase fans.
|
We would like to commend the Team at Courtyard Columbia for showing how much they CARE about their community! In the words of Grace Hinds, "I wanted to say thank you to all of our Team Members for pulling together to help in this charity giveaway. I'm so proud of all of you...YOU ROCK!!!!!"

PALMS Is Launched!
Pyramid's Advanced Learning Management System (PALMS) was launched October 1, 2007 after a three-month beta test period.
Pyramid was at the forefront of on-line training for all team members when it launched Pyramid University in 2004. Pyramid University allowed for easy access through either TalentCzar or www.pyramidadvisors.com to on-line training content hosted by the Educational Institute of the AHLA. Although we were happy to have on-line training, we wanted more.
Over the past three years, Pyramid's Corporate HR team has been working to increase the functionality of TalentCzar and to create a Talent Acquisition tool to assist with the hiring process. With their insight and through the efforts of our third party web developer, TAP (Talent Acquisition Portal) and OASYS (On-line Application System) were created. The next step in this progression was to create a Learning Management System with greater functionality than Pyramid University.
PALMS is a personalized approach to training and career development. Each Team Member will have his/her own training calendar. We have created new custom Pyramid Hotel Group content and included due dates for required brand training as well. "We are very excited for the future impact that PALMS will have on our Team Members across the company," says Caroline Kelleher, Pyramid's Director of Talent Development. She continues, "our goal is to have the best trained employees in the industry, and PALMS is going to make that happen!!"
We'd like to thank Caroline and her development team for their hard work over the past year to get PALMS off the ground. We'd also like to thank the Sheraton Framingham, the Hilton Washington DC/Rockville Hotel & Executive Meeting Center, and the Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort, beta-sites.
